Diplomatic representations of Turkmenistan abroad held a bicycle race on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day

In honor of the World Bicycle Day, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2018 at the initiative of Turkmenistan, diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan around the world organized sports events and cycling races.

On June 1, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a mass bicycle race in the city of Tashkent, which was attended by Turkmen students studying at various higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Turkmen diaspora.

In addition, on the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan, a friendly football tournament was organized in the city of Tashkent with the participation of teams representing foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Uzbekistan.

On June 2, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also organized a bicycle marathon in the city of Riyadh.

Employees of the diplomatic mission and members of their families, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, permanently residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as representatives of mass media took part in the event. During the event, a short-distance cycling race was organized for teenagers and children, followed by a long-distance cycling race for other participants.

On June 3, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkiye held sports events dedicated to the World Bicycle Day.

Employees of the diplomatic mission, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, mass media of the Republic of Turkiye and student youth took part in the events. The event was held on a special cycling track on the shores of Lake Eymir near Ankara.

On this day, a bicycle race organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia took place in Tbilisi.

Representatives of the National Cycling Federation of Georgia, athletes and coaches of Georgia took part in the cycling event. The route runs through the streets of Tbilisi, as well as the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta.

Also, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the UN Office in Kazakhstan, celebrated World Bicycle Day. Representatives of state and public institutions, heads and employees of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of the media took part in the bike ride. The 40 km bike ride took place on the territory of Astana’s ecological zone “Green Belt”.

In Minsk, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus together with the administration of the Belarusian State University of Physical Education organized a bike ride, which was attended by students of the Belarusian State University of Physical Education, members of the National Cycling Team of the Republic of Belarus, employees of the Embassy of Turkmenistan, as well as students from various foreign countries studying in the Republic of Belarus.

The bicycle race took place with the participation of managers and employees of institutions and enterprises located in the city of Mashhad of the Islamic Republic of Iran, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions, residents of Mashhad.

The participants of the events emphasized that the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution on the establishment of the World Bicycle Day on the initiative of Turkmenistan shows the high appreciation of the world community's efforts in the development of sports and physical and recreational movement, the popularization of cycling, the creation of conditions for the harmonious development of the younger generation, and the formation of the ecological culture of the society.
